The OARC Update is a dynamic conference series initiated in 2021 by the Odisha Arthritis & Rheumatology Foundation Trust to spotlight the vital interface between rheumatology and other medical specialties. Recognizing that many autoimmune and systemic diseases impact multiple organ systems, the conference series was designed to foster collaboration across disciplines and improve holistic patient care.
The inaugural OARC Update in 2021 focused on the interface between Rheumatology and Ophthalmology, a critical relationship given the eye manifestations frequently seen in autoimmune diseases. Building on this success, subsequent editions explored the connections between rheumatology and Dermatology, followed by Pulmonology. Each conference brought together experts from both specialties to share clinical experiences, research findings, and advances in diagnosis and treatment.
The primary goal of OARC Update is to bridge the gaps between different specialties, breaking down traditional silos in medicine. Autoimmune and inflammatory diseases often present diagnostic and therapeutic challenges that demand an integrated, multidisciplinary approach.
